FLASH: Teamsters Union Authorizes STRIKE at Bayway Refinery in Linden, NJ

1:22 PM EDT, September 20, 2026 -- The TEAMSTERS Union has authorized a STRIKE at the Bayway Refinery in Linden, New Jersey, the LARGEST REFINERY on the U.S. east coast.

The Refinery processes 258,000 to 275,000 Barrels of Oil per day into Distillates (Diesel Fuel, Home Heating Oil, Gasoline, and they manufacture Polypropylene at their on-site chemical plant.

This Refinery was built by Exxon in the year 1908 and Exxon began operating it in 1909. Later it was sold to TOSCO, which then became part of Philips66.

This refinery is a CRUCIAL source of Gasoline, Diesel fuel, and Home Heating Oil, for the entire northeastern United States.

If a strike takes place, the Refinery would necessarily shut down.  

If your home uses oil for its winter heating, and if you have not yet TOPPED-OFF your furnace home heating oil, it is now imperative you do so absolutely as soon as possible, before the weather gets cold enough to need the furnace.

If Bayway shuts down because of a Strike, there will be actual shortages of Home Heating oil just as the Winter arrives.
