States of Emergency Declared Over Winter Storm Today and This Weekend

Date: January 23, 2026

Source: Hal Turner

At 8:00 AM eastern US time Friday Morning, the latest Severe Storm Forecast was issued.  Things have gotten worse!  Storms forming today and into tonight will bring "Historic" ice storms and VERY HEAVY snowfall.

The down and dirty of it:

Power outages of LONG DURATION are likely as shown below:

This story is published at 9:39 AM eastern time, Friday, January 23.  The storm is ALREADY FORMING as forecast.

I urge you to make preparations while you still can because once this thing hits, it will be too late to get what you may need in terms of food, water, fuel, flashlights, batteries, a way to cook without electricity, ways to stay warm without electricity.

EXTREME COLD REMAINS AFTER THE STORM

Arctic air will bleed southward and eastward behind the storm, keeping temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below average through early next week. Monday morning temperatures across the eastern half of the country will be brutal. Single digits from Texas into the Carolinas. Below zero across the Ohio Valley. Teens and 20s in the Mid-Atlantic.

Whatever falls is going to stay on the ground for days. And for anyone who loses power in the icing zone, that's a dangerous situation. You cannot ride out multi-day power outages in a house with no heat when it's 15 degrees outside.

One model run shows another Arctic blast arriving January 29-31 and an even bigger one February 2-4. We're not warming up for at least two weeks across the Eastern U.S. Whatever preparations you make now, plan for an extended need for supplies.

If you don't know how to drive in snow, PLEASE STAY HOME.  If you do know how to drive in snow, make certain you remind yourself, ICE is not snow.   If it's icing outside - stay home.
