Yes, it is true. Apple announced a sweeping overhaul of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference, turning it into a much more capable AI assistant.

The updated Siri is built on Apple Intelligence and features deep personal context. It can access your on-screen content and work across your personal apps to answer questions, locate information, and take actions.

Key highlights of the update include:

  • Personal Context Understanding: Siri can draw on information from your Messages, Mail, Photos, Files, and Calendar. For example, Siri can surface a hotel confirmation number from an old email, find a restaurant recommendation a friend texted you, or pull up photos from a recent trip.

  • Systemwide App Actions: The AI can get things done across multiple apps. You can ask Siri to do things like draft an email from scratch, edit and share a set of photos, or add items to your Notes.

  • Onscreen Awareness: Siri can understand and reference the content currently displayed on your screen to help you answer questions.

  • Privacy Controls: Apple designed these system integrations so Siri learns about you on your device, prioritizing privacy.

The new features were introduced as part of the broader iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence software releases. You can read more about it directly on Apple's Siri AI Page or dive into the developer details in Apple's App Intents Documentation.
