The extraordinary warning comes as tensions with Iran escalate sharply following US–Israeli strikes that killed Iran's Supreme Leader and senior officials.
President Donald Trump returned to Washington from Mar-a-Lago on Sunday night as Israel announced a new wave of strikes 'in the heart of Tehran.'
After reports that three US soldiers were killed in Kuwait, Trump declared: 'America will avenge their deaths and deliver the most punishing blow to the terrorists who have waged war against basically, civilization.'
He added that combat operations would continue 'at full force' and said there will 'likely be more' deaths.
Iran has raised its so-called 'Red Flag of Revenge' and vowed retaliation, while its Revolutionary Guards claimed to have targeted a US aircraft carrier - a claim US Central Command said was false.
Against that volatile backdrop, US forces are now being warned that even everyday apps could pose a threat as fears mount of cyber or targeting operations tied to the widening conflict.
