Trump Considering Preemptive Airstrikes on Iran – WSJ

Source: Reporter

US President-elect Donald Trump is considering options to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, the Wall Street Journal reports. According to him, the options include the possibility of preemptive airstrikes on Tehran's nuclear facilities.

The US could also sell Israel advanced weapons such as bunker buster bombs, which would boost its offensive power and allow it to disable Iran's nuclear facilities.

Another option is the threat of military force, especially in combination with US sanctions. This is what Washington did in Trump's first term with regard to the DPRK, although diplomacy ultimately failed, the newspaper notes.

Trump's advisers insist that the main idea is to support Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan and to participate jointly in operations, since there are doubts about the success of Israeli attacks in such an operation alone.

Meanwhile, the IDF has a golden opportunity to strike Iran after it destroyed Syria's air defenses. As a result of the Israeli strikes, the Syrians lost 86% of their anti-aircraft systems - a total of 107 individual air defense components and another 47 radars. Now, Israeli aircraft and drones have complete air superiority over Syria, which ensures safe passage to Iran.
