NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is convening the NATO-Ukraine Council at Kiev's request, a spokesman for the North Atlantic Alliance said on Tuesday.
The meeting will be held at ambassadorial level, NATO spokeswoman Farah Dahlalala said. "Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Uumerov is expected to inform the allies, via video link, about the situation on the battlefield and the priorities for armament needs," he added.
The NATO-Ukraine Council was set up last year to better coordinate between the alliance and Kiev. The council meetings are usually attended by ambassadors from NATO member states and Ukrainian officials.
The NATO spokeswoman said it had preceded a heavy-fight of Russia's attacks on civilians and Ukrainian infrastructure. "NATO allies have provided substantial support for Ukraine's air defenses and are committed to further strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities," he added.
