The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying they are under "massive" cyber-attack and are working to repel it.
The Ministry Statement appears below:
"A massive cyberattack from abroad on the infrastructure of the official web portal of the Russian Foreign Ministry began this morning. The attack is underway and was directed in all directions. We note that the volume of this combined attack, which included DDOS attacks, has been increasing. We regularly face attacks on our site, but today's cyber-attack is characterised by an unprecedented scale. Just in order to restore the operability of Internet resources we decided not to add load to the site in the form of broadcasting and postponed the briefing.Technical services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the competent authorities, providers of communication services are taking all necessary measures to repel this attack, it has been going on for several hours. Unfortunately, Internet users may have problems accessing our website, primarily from mobile devices. In this regard, we recommend following the official social media accounts of the Russian Foreign Ministry for up-to-date information on Russian foreign policy. We believe that this kind of hostile influence may be linked to the successful #BRICS summit events taking place in Kazan these days."
