Iran has continued to strike tankers in the Strait of Hormuz in past few days, amidst allegedly ongoing negotiations with the U.S. that are allegedly focused on the nuclear file.

Both Iran and the U.S. continue to use economic (U.S. in the form of sanctions) and kinetic (Iran in the form of strikes on commercial shipping) actions as coercive methods during negotiations.

Iran, however, claims "no negotiations are taking place."

In the Strait of Hormuz, five tankers have been struck in four days.

Iranian forces struck the Kuwaiti VLCC KAZIMAH III in the Strait of Hormuz on 1 October. It is the fifth tanker hit since 28 September and the second Kuwaiti state VLCC in four days.

Neither Kuwaiti tanker was on the PGSA NCV list.

Most of the recent victims were transiting AIS-dark. Their Automated Identification System (AIS) was turned off to try to hide from Iran.

Gulf crude flows are reportedly holding up through a dark tanker shuttle and ship-to-ship transfers.
