Diesel Fuel hits $6.28 in Pennsylvania; JP Morgan Warns of Food Shortages

This morning, August 26, 2026, I received images (above and below) from a reader showing Diesel Fuel at the Love's on I-79 at the Slippery Rock exit #108 in western Pennsylvania, is selling diesel cash price at $6.28 per gallon. Debit/credit was 7 cents more.
I reported last week that the Diesel "Crack" spread had risen to $102, bringing the REFINED cost of a barrel of Diesel Fuel to $183 a barrel. That story made clear this was going to cause widespread inflation because every product in the United States (except electricity and natural gas) must, at some point, move by truck.
The freight hauled by trucks must cover the expense of the truck: Driver, fuel, oil, maintenance, profit. So with Diesel fuel costing so much more, EVERY product will have to bear that cost, and we will see rampant inflation.
For months, I have warned readers of this website and listeners to my radio show that this was going to happen, and when it did, many truckers would be forced into Bankruptcy and/or simply shut down their trucks and stop hauling unprofitable freight. The shutdown is called "Demand Destruction." The demand for fuel is being destroyed by the high prices.
Demand destruction in trucking means fewer trucks out hauling freight. That converts into product shortages, and even product outages.
If Diesel is too expensive, there are fewer trucks to pick up food from farms or meat from ranches, and bring it to processing centers. Fewer trucks to bring the food and meat from processing centers to Distribution Centers. Fewer trucks to bring food and meat from Distribution Centers to Store Shelves. Hence, empty store shelves.
I URGED readers and listeners to go out and stock up on food while we still can. Some listened. Many did not.
FOOD SHORTAGE WARNINGS ISSUED
Now, JP MORGAN/CHASE is publicly warning of a "Global Food Crisis."
JP MORGAN: Forecasting 5% food inflation and global food crisis next year. Why? A confluence of events: - Geopolitcs - Major Logistics Issues (freight charges, transit time & fuel costs). It hit television news last night:
This is not going to just "go away." It cannot simply be "fixed".
Fertilizer shortages mentioned in the video above crushed a lot of an entire planting season for farmers. They couldn't afford the right amount of fertilizer, so the crop yield will be considerably less this season. There may not be a second harvest this year.
One can't simply make up for that because the fertilizer shortage has struck worldwide as a result of the Middle East conflict which closed the Strait of Hormuz. Nitrogen Fertilizer is a by-product of crude oil refining. With twenty percent of the world's crude oil supply cut-off due to the conflict, fertilizer rates skyrocketed. Farmers couldn't afford it.
So WHEN our crop yields drop significantly this Harvest, we can't just import extra from somewhere else. The whole world is in the same situation. No one has enough.
I pointed all this out in numerous articles on this website URGING readers to stock up on food while you still can. I said it so often on my radio show, people started complaining that they'd heard it already.
They may have heard, but few listened.
Now, the info is hitting the main stream media. The "masses who are asses" are now getting a "heads-up" that there is going to be a food shortage. A lot of them will decide in coming days, to run out to the stores and start stocking up.
If you wait to do the same, you may very well walk into stores that don't have much left - at all.
Please take action. Go stock-up on food. Months worth!
You can get shelf-stable items like large 20 pound bags of Rice, dozens of boxes of Pasta. Jarred Sauces and Gravy. Canned meat. Canned fish (Tuna). Canned Vegetables. None of these things need refrigeration and they'll last a long time.
Believe me, you may get sick and tired of eating these things, but at least you won't starve to death. Some people will.
