Luke Air Force Base in Arizona was placed on lockdown on Friday, December 19, 2025, following reports of an active shooter incident.  The base's 56th Fighter Wing issued a statement via Facebook, directing personnel to shelter in place and follow guidance from first responders, emphasizing that the safety of Airmen, families, and the community was the top priority.  Law enforcement and emergency personnel were actively responding to the scene.

The shelter-in-place order was announced at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time and was lifted by 11:23 a.m., when the base declared an "all clear".

Despite the lifting of the order, the base remained on lockdown as a precautionary measure while authorities continued to clear buildings.  Glendale Police Department officials confirmed there was no evidence of any shots being fired or of an active shooter being present.  The department stated that the ongoing lockdown was due to an "overabundance of caution" during the building clearance process.

Multiple officials, including U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego and Representative Greg Stanton, expressed concern and stated they were closely monitoring the situation, thanking first responders for their swift actions.

The public was advised to avoid the area and refrain from spreading unverified information.  The incident was later confirmed to be a false alarm.
