Two U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortresses completed a double-transatlantic training mission from September 11-12, 2024, showcasing the U.S. military’s ability to integrate with NATO allies and provide global strike capabilities, according to a release from U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa.

The mission highlights the strategic reach and readiness of the B-52 bombers, which flew from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, crossing the Atlantic twice.

The bombers took part in a NATO-led exercise in Poland. The exercise brought together more than two dozen aircraft from various Allied nations to improve command and control in a simulated contested environment.American bombers fly to Poland and back to deter Russia

This mission is part of Bomber Task Force 24-4, an ongoing series of exercises designed to enhance interoperability between U.S. forces and NATO partners.

Earlier this summer, two B-52s made history by operating out of Romania’s Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base for the first time, further demonstrating the strategic flexibility of U.S. bombers in Europe.

Since 2018, Bomber Task Force (BTF) missions have been a regular presence in Europe, reinforcing the U.S. commitment to its NATO allies and providing deterrence against potential threats. The latest mission continues that tradition say the U.S. Air Force, underscoring the agility and capability of the B-52s and the critical support provided by Allied forces.
